Where I help in Murcia

I help expats around the Mar Menor (San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier, Los Alcázares, La Manga), on the Costa Cálida (Mazarrón, Camposol, Puerto de Mazarrón, Águilas), in Cartagena and Murcia city, and on inland developments such as Torre-Pacheco or Sucina.

What drives electricity bills in Murcia

Many expat homes in Murcia have no gas: cooking, hot water, heating and air conditioning are all electric. That raises both the power you need and your consumption, and a few cents per kWh turns into a lot of euros a year. If you have solar panels, what you're paid for the surplus you export to the grid matters too.

Who brings electricity to your home in Murcia

Across almost all of the Murcia region the grid belongs to i-DE (Iberdrola group). When you switch supplier nothing changes at your home: not the meter, not the installation.

Why the price per kWh isn't enough

Fixed-price tariffs cost the same everywhere in mainland Spain. What changes from one home to another is your contracted power, the times you use electricity and whether the house is empty part of the year. That's why I don't compare against a "typical" household: I calculate with the kWh per period and the days on your own bill, with all taxes, and tell you what you'd pay per month with each tariff.

Frequently asked questions

Questions from expats in Murcia

I have solar panels. Do you take that into account?

Yes. If your bill includes surplus compensation, I calculate it at the price each tariff pays for the energy you export, because it varies quite a lot from one supplier to another.

How much power should I contract?

It depends on what you switch on at the same time. If your trip switch never goes with everything on, you may have more power than you need, and you pay for it every day. When I see your bill I'll tell you whether it's worth reviewing.

Do I need to be in Spain to switch supplier?

No. The switch is done remotely: I need your NIE, NIF or passport, an email address, a phone number and a bill showing your CUPS. There's no work at the house, your power isn't cut off and you don't have to call your current supplier: the cancellation happens automatically.

Paying too much for electricity in Murcia?

Send me your bill, whatever language it's in. In a few seconds I'll tell you what you pay per month and what you'd pay with each tariff.
